Coinciding SARS-CoV-2 infection in HIV patients with cerebral toxoplasma

A massive and notorious impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected communities worldwide, urging extra preventive measure, especially for individuals with comorbidities including those who are suffering from human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). We reported a case 45-year-old man severe acute respiratory 2 (SARS-CoV-2) HIV infection as well toxoplasmosis. The patient presented to the hospital decreased consciousness stiffness on both hands feet accompanied loss appetite, fever, coughing. Since 2014, he had been diagnosed undergone combined antiretroviral therapies. Toxoplasmosis was revealed by multislice computed tomography (MSCT) showing multiple rim-like lesion in cortex-subcortex left temporal lobe along surrounding perifocal oedema. Furthermore, finding corroborated contrasted image exhibiting rim enhancement patterns. also RT-PCR confirmed Covid-19. Following examinations, received pyrimethamine loading dose 200 mg. management continued oral intake pyrimethamine, clindamycin, folic acid, vitamin B6 maintenance dose. This report suggests that COVID-19 can be treated therapies since specific antivirus SARS-CoV-2 not yet available. believe this could contribute more understanding development clinical HIV-positive patients.
